Hello From The Outside

See what I did there? 😉

Hehe, just a little giggle to start off this Friday. I know, I know, I’ve been MIA! I don’t even have a really good excuse, it’s just the way things have gone lately.

I am working on some things around here that will be big and exciting, but that I’m not quite ready to post about yet (I know, the suspense is killing you, right?) Just think, new services, and maybe even a new look sometime soon. We’ll see on that one. Anyway, I think working on that stuff has taken up most of my brain-space when it comes to this blog.

If you guys will still have me, I promise I’ll be back in action very very soon. I have a couple of Workout Wednesday posts coming up, and a couple other little things planned, but things probably won’t be running on a regular schedule around here until after the New Year. Which kind of sounds like an eternity, but really it’s only a couple weeks away (wait, what?)

So what can I update you on while I’m here for a few minutes? Well, I did pull over 200 lb on my deadlift last week for the first time in a while. It’s not that that’s a huge number for me (I pulled 205 for 5 singles), but after taking quite the hiatus from heavy lifting over the summer, it’s taken me a bit to get back into my groove. I’m actually going to max out today, so maybe I’ll pop back in to let you all know what I actually max out at.

The important thing to remember here is that even though 205 (and whatever I max out at today) is not at my previous max of 235, it still marks progress for me over the past couple of months. Sometimes we lose sight of the fact that life can get in the way of constant progress, and we might need to just take what we can get at times. Just like I talked about in this recent post, taking a few steps back now and again doesn’t mean that we are a “failure”, it just means that we’re continuing on our journey.

Especially in the stress and chaos of the holiday season (full of cookies, candies and other treats) focusing only on your end goal might prove to be a little bit too stressful. I’m going to take my max today and run with it — whatever I pull will be my best RIGHT NOW, and my next goal will build off of this. If we’re constantly obsessing over where we “should” be, and why we aren’t quite there right now, we’ll drive ourselves crazy!

And with that little tidbit, I’m off to get ready for my day. Again, sorry for the quiet lately, I’ll be back before you know it!

  1. I was wondering where you went! I finally get to follow you again and then you disappeared for 2 weeks. Hope all is well! Looking forward to any surprises you have up your sleeve!
